Erie, Pennsylvania is a city of rich historical and cultural heritage. It played a vital role in establishing the United States’ control over many major lakes and was responsible for stopping the advance of the British as a world power. There are many places of interest in Erie. Enlisted below are just a few:

The Erie Otters is a member of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League), a junior league for players aged 16-20. This League has been the proving ground for NHL superstars like Joe Thornton, and Eric Lindros. The regular season runs during from September to March, held at the Erie Civic Center, in downtown Erie. Apart from the seasonal games of the Otters, the center also hosts a wide range of events such as concerts of well renowned recording artists, local dance troupes, and even rodeos.


Presque Isle State Park is a recreational park laid along the peninsula. The state park is nationally recognized bird sanctuary, and is surrounded by sandy beaches, which provides all day recreational activities such as hiking, bird watching, and swimming.

The Historic Warner Theater has 2500 seats, and hosts theatric performances by art groups such as the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lake Erie Ballet Company, and Erie Civic Music Association. The Warner Theater also acts a hub to the Eerie Civic Center. Other theaters located in the downtown area include the Erie Playhouse, and the Roadhouse Theater for Contemporary Art.

The Erie Maritime Museum is the first museum in Erie and focuses on telling the world about the role of Erie in the war against the British. One of the popular displays is a recreation of the US Brig Niagara, the flagship that was responsible for winning the war.
