Erie Warner Theatre.Popular Places in Erie Pennsylvania.
Depression was sweeping the nation, the Warner Theater fulfilled the dream of creating an atmosphere of palatial splendor. For the price of a ticket, whether it was for a new Hollywood movie or a vaudville show, you could enter and be entranced by such features as gold and silver gilted panelling, solid bronze rails on the stairway, exotic Czechoslovakian glass and crystal chandeliers, the marble archway and plush crushed velour draperies. The lobby itself is capable of hosting receptions for up to two hundred fifty people in a seated fashion. Once inside the auditorium itself, you are treated to a two thousand two hundred fifty seat chamber with a 70x31 foot stage and an orchestra pit barricade.
While the old "Mighty Wurlitzer" organ that once took up a corner of the orchestra pit has been removed to the Gray’s Armory in Cleveland, Ohio by the Western Reserve Chapter of American Theatre Organ Enthusiasts, music is still a major feature of the Warner Theater. It is home to the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Civic Music Association and the Lake Erie Ballet. The Warner Theater is also host to various entertainment shows and lectures throughout the year and is used in productions for both Enchanted Forest Productions and the Erie BROADWAY Series of plays imported from New York. You can keep up with what is going on at the Warner Theater by contacting Dawn M. Betza, the theater's Coordinator for Publicity, Promotions and Special Events at (814) 453-7117 Ext. 226.
